German WWI issued military rifle. Receiver is dated 1916. Barrel is marked ""S/42"" from a 1930's rework by Mauser. Given to Spain as foreign aid. Stock has Spanish cartouches on right side by butt plate. Serial numbers are non-matching. Bore is very good with strong rifling. Very good plus overall condition. A Mauser rifle that has eye appeal and an interesting history.
