Description:
An UNBELIEVABLEY RARE example of a classic Remington Model 14R Carbine Takedown rifle in .30 Remington.  This beauty comes to us via consignment and it is an absolute honor to bring it to market.  A bit of history.....this particular rifle was designed by a man named John Pederson who worked for Remington for a stint in the early 20th Century before working for the Feds.  Ever hear of the Pederson Device converting the famous Springfield 1903 to a sub machine gun?  Yeah, that was this guy.  IN FACT, the venerated John Moses Browning who gave you the Browning A5, Winchester 1894 and the Colt 1911....just to say a few...was quoted saying that John Pederson "was the greatest gun designer in the World."  If that's not high praise.....I do not know what is.

This particular rifle was designed to get after the ever growing popularity of the Winchester 1894, specifically in .30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire/.30-30 Win) in the late 19th Century, early 20th.  Remington didn't want to simply come out with another Levergun....like other manufactures and enlisted Pederson to rethink the market.  The Remington Model 14 was the result.  This firearm, chambered in the .30 Rem has almost the exact same ballistics as the .30 WCF and instead of a fast lever....Pederson employed a super-fast pump action....but improved.  The Winchester 1894 utilized a tubular magazine with bull-nosed bullets to keep everyone safe.  The .30 Rem could utilize pointed bullets and the Model 14 also had a tubular magazine, but with the unique Pederson spiral design it was able to line up the rounds in the magazine without the danger of the pointed tips butting into the primers.  In addition, the Model 14R in Carbine is a Takedown unit to easily fit into your saddle and has about the same length/weight as the 1894.  Although history would favor the Winchester, I must say after handling dozens or more Winchester 94's over the years....this Remington 14R is FAR better made.  She's 105 years old and I wouldn't hesitate to take her into the field...as is.  This rifle is in excellent and full functioning condition.

This isn't just a rifle....this is History.  Don't miss this very RARE opportunity to own a piece of Americana....and a piece of John Pederson's legacy.
