Offering a rare Marlin Model 1889 Saddle Ring Carbine with 15 inch barrel. Caliber 44-40. Marlin only made 367 carbines with a 15 inch barrel. So, how many remain in any condition today? According to the Marlin records at the Cody museum, this carbine was shipped on August 15, 1892. Almost 129 years ago. speakking of condition, well, as the photos will show, this one is rough. She has earned her keep. It is missing the loading gate, and the stem for the the Lyman peep sight. The sight will not lock upright, but, it does appear to have come with the carbine as does the rear filler blank. The loading gate is missing and the sling ring removed, the tang screw was replaced. However, I do have an original loading gate off another 1889 frame that can be provided. Tang screw as well as sling ring and new staples can be found. The bore is actually not that bad. The hammer is very tight, and the action still Marlin smooth. The pictures really tell the story. The gun letters with the 15 inch barrel. And, is antique and can be shipped directly to you. Get it shooting again, or it can be the “conversation piece” in your collection. Some Marlin collectors go their whole life not seeing one. $2500 OBO.
