ANTIQUE, EARLY 1894, .38-55 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, #40XXX, MADE 1898. These early antique 1894s in .38-55 are getting very difficult to find and this is a nice one. The receiver shows fine blue that is mixing plum and brown with fine blue on the bolt- there is still good blue on the receiver sides, especially the left side. The lever shows some good dark case colors mainly on the upper portion on the left side with traces on the right side. The barrel blue is aged to a soft plum and the mag tube shows fine blue. Very tight wood to metal fit and the stock and forearm show only normal light handling. Still good blue on the forend cap, original buckhorn and Winchester blade front sight. Excellent markings and best of all is the bore which is bright, sharp and excellent! Fine appearance overall and antique serial number.
