Description:
SOLD PENDING RECEIPT OF FUNDS    ***************************    Colt 1903 Hammerless Pocket Automatic .32 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) caliber, also called Model "M", barrel length 3.75 inches, blue finish, grip safety and manual thumb safety (slide lock), serial number = 143,188.  Made between 1903 - 1945.  Approximately 572,215 civilian versions were made.  This gun was made in 1913.  There are 4 types.  This is a Type III gun with integrated barrel bushing.  Type III guns were made between 1910 and 1926.  Serial number range for Type III is 105,051 - 468,789.  Black checkered hard rubber grips with "Rampant Colt" molded into them.  In 1924, the grips were changed to checkered walnut.  Magazine release is a sliding button on the bottom of the grip.  This gun is really not hammerless - it has a concealed hammer.  The hammer is covered and hidden by the slide.  This prevents the hammer from snagging on clothing when removed from a pocket.  This is a "blowback" design.  The barrel is fixed and does not move when the gun is fired.  There is no magazine disconnect on this design (in other words, the gun can be fired with the magazine removed).  On this design, the slide does not lock back to the rear after the last round has been fired.  This was the second pocket automatic Colt manufactured.  Designed by John Browning.  One of Colts' most successful pistols.  Carried by General Officers of the Army and Air Force.  Issued to the Boston Police.  Famous criminals who used this model include Al Capone, Bonnie Parker, John Dillinger and Willie Sutton.  Similar to the FN (Fabrique Nationale) Model 1903, which is larger because of different ammunition (9 X 20mm SR, Browning Long Cartridge).  Comes with one magazine.
