Description:
If you have been looking for an affordable U.S.G.I. World War 2 M1 Carbine that you can shoot without worrying here it is.  This is a I.B.M. Corp M1 Carbine originally made in late 1943 to early 1944.  After WW2 ended it was likely turned back in and sent thru the U.S. Military's arsenal overhaul program.  After going thru a rebuild it was likely then reissued for service in the Korean War.  At some point post-Korea and Vietnam it was likely sold as surplus, at which point it was reworked again, re-barreled, and placed into a commercial stock.  All of the parts in the gun are U.S.G.I. marked except for the barrel and stock, which are both totally unmarked.   The receiver is IBM ("AO" supplied), the round bolt is Underwood, the type 2 Slide is a "PI" marked Inland piece, the trigger housing is a "SA" marked Springfield piece, the type 3 barrel band is a "KI" piece, and the gas cylinder sleeve is stamped with a "B" and the U.S. Ordnance Wheel.  Inside the trigger group the hammer and sear appear unmarked, the switch-type safety is marked "CM" and the magazine release is stamped "M" underlined.  The rear sight is a U.S.G.I. milled adjustable model marked with an "H" inside a shield, and the front sight is a milled version marked with an "R".  All of the parts appear to be in good mechanical condition and untouched, with the exception of the recoil spring tube housing on the receiver which has been repaired with a small weld but is in good working order.  The finish on this IBM M1 Carbine is all U.S. Arsenal parkerizing with the exception of the barrel which is blued.  As you can see from the pictures, all of the parts have a nice uniform look to them both in color and degree of wear. The bore in this carbine is mirror-bright and pristine, free from any pitting or visible imperfections of any kind.  The stock this IBM carbine is in appears to be a commercially made example based on the M2 style "potbelly" style stock, however it is not cut for M2 parts.  The stock has a smooth blued steel buttplate on it and is fit with a U.S.G.I. recoil plate.  There is one small chip of wood missing right behind the triggerguard but is otherwise completely solid.  The action on this M1 Carbine is slick and smooth, and the bolt locks into battery perfectly with proper headspace.  All of the controls on this carbine are in perfect working order, including the adjustable rear sight.  This IBM comes complete with one unmarked U.S.G.I.-style 30-round blued-steel magazine in good condition.  This WW2 IBM M1 Carbine should function and fire just as reliably and accurately today as the day it left the factory back in 1943-44.  This would be the perfect "shooter" M1 Carbine for any World War 2 or U.S. Military weapons collection.
