Description:
SOLD

Here is an unusual and graceful single barrel sidelock non-ejector by Charles Boswell, built circa 1898.  The 30" nitro-re-proved barrel (blacked Damascus) has a 2 3/4" chamber and excellent bore, choked .020 (about modified.)  The barrel is engraved: CHARLES BOSWELL. MAKER. 126. STRAND. LONDON. W.C.  The action and lock-plate feature a gold inlaid cocking indicator, and beaded border and floral scroll engraving, along with best game scene engraving of (on the one side) a pair of setters on point, and (on the other) a nye of pheasants.  The fore-end has a carved horn finial with an Anson push-rod release.  The highly figured stock measures 15 1/4" with a well done 2" extension with checkered butt.  The weight is 6 lbs 6 oz.  This is a beautifully made gun and very fun to carry and to hunt with.  I used it last fall for pheasant, shartpail and huns, as well as for one fabulous day in the snipe marsh.
