Description:
Colt Single Action Army Revolver "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" 44/40 with Colt Historian Letter. This piece was sold to: Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven, Conn. and then shipped to: Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Co. Bisbee, Az. Territory, shipped March 18,1907. The letter indacates that the revolver was fitted with a 4&3/4" barrel and that has been changed to a 7&1/2" barrel. There are pean marks along both sides of the frame where the barrel threads in, perhaps to tighten the barrel fit? The grips are worn and an old brake repaired on the right grip. There are 5 file marks on the bottom of the left grip and 4 file marks on the bottom of the back strap. The rifling in the bore is in good shape with a slight show of pitting in some area's, the chambers remain in good shape. All matching numbers but in 20% showing wear making it a nice shooter.
