RARE CHAMBERING 1894 SADDLE RING CARBINE IN .32-40 CALIBER, #891XXX, MADE 1919. This is a fairly late production carbine to be in .32-40 as by this time the .30WCF, .25-35 and .32WS had gained in such popularity that the earlier .32-40 and .38-55 cartridges were in little demand. The .32-40 was the least produced caliber in carbines. This example shows nearly all the deep barrel and mag blue with correct carbine ladder sight. Excellent markings. the receiver shows good blue around the saddle ring and in the most protected areas with the balance a natural very thin/flaked blue to gray with excellent screws and fine blue on the loading gate. Even the barrel band shows some fine blue. During this production period, receivers tended to flake very easily and most rifles and carbines of the period show this lack of receiver blue. Excellent butt stock and forend with perhaps a super thin hairline crack coming back from the receiver on the left side that you have to look very carefully to see and might be a scratch. Tight wood to metal fit and best of all is a bright, sharp, excellent bore! Super scarce caliber especially for this production period.
