WINCHESTER "LIMITED SERIES" 1885 SINGLE SHOT HIGH WALL RIFLE IN .32-40 CALIBER, FITTED WITH A WM. MALCOLM 3X SCOPE, IN ORIGINAL BOX. This rifle has a 28" octagon barrel with Winchester, U.S. Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, CT as well as Miroku markings. The barrel is also marked "1885 LIMITED SERIES CAL. 32-40 WIN ONLY." The straight crescent butt plate style stock and forend are of nicely grained walnut and sharply checkered, the forend has a schnable and sling swivel studs are fitted to the forend and butt stock. The receiver is blued and fitted with a Lyman style tang sight. mated to a blade/bead front barrel sight. The receiver ring and barrel are equipped with bases to hold the "WM. MALCOLM 3X" marked 17" scope with steel screw-in lens covers. The scope is quickly attached/detached with thumb screws on the right bottom of the scope mounts. I believe the scope is aftermarket. the bore is bright and overall the rifle seems about unused with only some very minor sharp edge wear on the barrel. The box has the correct end label with matching serial number and contains a Certificate of Authenticity for the Limited Series Model 1885 and Model 1885 manual. These are scarce.
