Description:
***SOLD*** RARE! Walther Sportmodell .22LR single shot bolt action rifle, manufactured during the inter-war period at Zella-Mehlis. This rifle was built as a both a military/police training rifle, as well as a high end target rifle for civilian competition. The rifle features a profile, size and weight very similar to a Mauser type rifle, with a beefy .22LR barrel, and a simple yet elegant single shot bolt action mechanism. The bolt has a three-position safety, just like a full sized Mauser, with a military style from sight and tangent rear. The barrel is Nitro proofed, with Crown-Over-N proofs, confirming it's manufacture as Pre-WWII. The rifle is in excellent working order with a very smooth and solid bolt mechanism, a nice trigger, and a superb bore. Some signs of age and minor finish are present, however overall the rifle appears to have been well cared for. Included with the rifle is what appears to be the original sling, which is deteriorated in some spots, but is still stable. The cleaning rod is missing, as shown. This is a wonderful collectors item, not to mention a very accurate shooter! Please refer to the photos prior to puchase.
