On Hold Sale Pending Very rare Civil war Dwight, Chaplin & Company Ballard Single Shot Carbine serial number 82. Only 115 carbines were completed and delivered by Dwight, Chaplin & Co. by September 1863. The carbine is marked Dwight, Chaplin & Co./BRIDGEPORT, CONN/MERVIN.&BRAY/AGTS.N.Y. 82. The wood stocks are dark and in good condition with numerous small dents and wear. All metal parts are dark brown patina with pitting. The carbine appears complete but the tip of the hammer is broken off (see photos). The caliber is 56-56 and the bore is dark with pitting. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
