Description:
SOLD Centennial Airweight Model 042s were only made in 1992. The Model 042 actually started life as the Model 642. The 642s have a stainless barrel and cylinder with an alloy frame, The first 642s were unsatisfactory to S&W, because they could not match the stainless and alloy colors. In 1992 the revovers were polished and originally a matt black finish was applied. The early version had the matt black finish later versions were highly polished and blued. They were then restamped Model 042. Keep in mind these are pretty rare and not seen very often, especially in this condition. They don't have Airweight stamped, and they are aluminum framed. As you can see in the pictures, the original blue finish will rate 99%. There is a light turn line on the cylinder. Bore is like new. Hammer still has case color. Action is smooth and tight. Grips are excellent. The box is very nice and original to the pistol. Extras are pictured. This is a super nice Model 092 Centennial Airweight. It is nice enough for any collection.
