Description:
Serial #13001, .450 CF, 5" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome, early ejector rod revolver that retains 40-50% of the original bright blue finish, mostly along the barrel, protected areas of the frame, and on the sideplate. The balance of the metal has a mottled gray patina. The cylinder has some further areas of mild pinprick pitting on a few spots as well. There is a clear Tranter "football" marking on the right side, and the gun is retailer marked on the top of the barrel: "S. GRANT 67A ST. JAMES ST., LONDON". The checkered walnut grip has some small handling marks and blemishes scattered about, but the checkering points are still relatively sharp. The action lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a very good-fine example of an early Tranter Model 1868 .450, sold by one of the legendary British marques, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection. Antique
