Description:
General Specs: Browning, Year 1975, .410 Gauge, 6lbs 4oz, Chokes M/F
Serial Number: 286J75

The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Produced in plain-jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped.   The Midas Grade was the highest level of engraving and wood offered for the regular production models, and was cut with deep relief style acanthus scroll with nicely shaded background, game scene vignettes with large, raised gold inlays outlined in fine gold wire.  The trigger guard and a 1 ½” section of the breech end of the barrels also received the deep relief scroll work.  The wood was exceptionally figured high-grade walnut with fancy checkering that wrapped over the top of the wrist, with spear points and flourishes on the borders.  The Midas Grade is truly an exceptional work of art.  This gun, sn286 J75 made in 1975 was produced as a .410 bore gun and the accompanying Browning factory letter tells us that the gun was CUSTOM ORDERED WITH A SUPERLIGHT BUTTSTOCK AND SCHNABEL FOREND…A VERY UNIQUE MIDAS .410!  This fine Midas small bore is in mint condition and comes in the original Browning factory box with intact end label and includes the instruction booklet.  The wood has 14 ¼” LOP to the factory buttplate.  The barrels are 26 ½” and factory choked M/F.  The game scene vignettes are signed by engraver Mario Bodson and the deep cut, shaded background scroll work is signed by Jean Marie Florent…a double signed Midas.  The gun has 100% of the factory finish remaining and there are no marks in the wood or metal.  THIS IS A RARE AND DESIRABLE BROWNING SUPERPOSED.  THE TOTAL PRODUCTION OF BROWNING SUPERPOSED GUNS IN MIDAS GRADE .410 WAS ONLY 149 GUNS DURING THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION RUN STARTING IN 1964 AND ENDING 1977.  This is one of the finest examples you will ever encounter, and for the collector, finding a Midas .410 with documented special-order wood makes this gun all-the-more desirable.  The English style stock and Schnabel forend are incredibly attractive and racy on this little over/under, and the wood figure is outstanding!  The gun has been fired a few times as evidenced by a faint primer ring around the firing pin holes, so you can enjoy a day afield or at the club with this fine Midas Grade and not harm the value.  I like the M/F chokes on the .410 bore for hunting or clays.  The high grade, low production, small bore Browning Superposed guns have been in high demand over the last few years and are a solid investment quality firearm that you can enjoy and shoot while the gun continues to increase in value.  We are offering the gun at a very reasonable price for an as new, factory documented Midas Grade .410.  Thanks for looking!
