Description:
A colorful converted British Sea Service percussion pistol of .60 cal, 8'' brass barrel with a good bore. The barrel and other brass fittings of this pistol have taken on a partially bright mild goldenrod patina showing some scattered light dings and minor handling marks. The barrel markings remain strong with ''LONDON'' and the breech with period Birmingham proof marks. The pistol was converted with drum and nipple, the lockplate originally flint, converted for percussion use. The lockplate has toned to gray-brown with some old oxidation staining and the Ketland markings remain strong. The walnut stock remains in about good condition , with some scattered light dings and strong antique varnish. There is a small chip near the triggerguard tang inlet tang shows a little bit of play. There is a hardwood ramrod present and the lock seems to function well mechanically. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
