Description:
Very nice inside and out. Original nickel gun, no peeling or flaking. Very light, even "haze" patina, just because its old.Bore has seen some corrosive ammo we think, and has ever so slight roughnedd in the grooves. We rate the bore and rifling at 80%, maybe a bit better. Lettering, proofs, horse are all crisp, just doesn't show up well with the digital pics. They look great under magnification. Note: there is no grip screw! We tried to recreate the crime: Some guy lost the grip screw, and probably one of the escutcheons also. A somewhat handy fellow, he made up some larger escutcheons, fitted a metal rod through the two and peened the ends to hold on the grips. Can you come up with a better explanation?
A fellow with a bit more skills could fashion and fit the needed parts without too much effort, and greatly enhance the gun. Or, just leave it alone and enjoy it.
We tend to be harder on our guns when writing these descriptions, so you get a pleasant surprise when you see it in person. Its an attractive, usable pistol in a decent caliber, ready for a new home, priced to move.
