Description:
General Specs: Parker, Year 1912, Gauge 12, 6lbs 13oz, Chokes F/Cyl, LOP 14", DAH 2 5/16", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number: 158702

Parker shotguns get interesting in the DH Grade, with nice game scene engraving, figured wood, elaborate checkering, and skeleton butt plate as standard fare.  Here we have a Parker DH Grade 12ga. sn158702, built in 1912 on a 1 1/2 frame (lightweight 12ga. frame), 26" Titanic Steel barrels choked Cylinder and Full (we can talk about changing the chokes if you like the gun enough to buy it), perfect bores and mechanics, stunning wood figure, skeleton steel buttplate, English grip, awesome engraving, 6lbs. 13oz. (very light for a 12ga. Parker), and excellent screws.  The uniqueness of this gun is in the quality of the wood figure (factory original) which is much, much nicer than most DH Grade Parkers, the English grip (only 10% of Parkers had an English grip), the weight (few 12ga. Parkers are under 7lbs.), and the factory 26" barrels.  They made 6300 12ga. DH Grade Parkers, only 282 had 26" Titanic Steel barrels, and only about 630 of total production had English stock.  Of the 282 that had 26" barrels, only about 30 of them had straight English grips.  It is a very rare find.  I would also calculate less than 500 hundred Parker 12ga. guns weighed less than 6lbs. 14oz. in all grades.  We have a Parker Gun Collectors Association letter on this gun, and it was an unusual gun from the start, ordered with no safety and reverse chokes; cylinder bore in the left barrel and full choke in the right.  Some competitive pigeon shooters of that day had a methodology of shooting the first shot as quickly as possible with an open choke to either drop the bird or slow it for a second shot with the full choke barrel, dropping the bird dead within the established boundaries.  A Parker with 26” barrels weighing 6 3/4lbs. would be fast handling, the first shot with the left barrel causes less body movement and quicker recovery for the second shot from the right barrel and full choke.  This is what my experience tells me as an educated guess.  We installed a safety in the gun here in our shop with all Parker original parts, as the gun is a righteous field gun.  If you are a lefty, we can reverse the triggers.  If you are a righty, we can alter the chokes to your liking.  The chambers are 2 ¾” with long forcing cones, barrels are tight on face and hinge pin and lever is way right of center.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY, the action having been stripped to the smallest part, placed in the Ultrasonic cleaner and scrubbed to clean metal, all parts inspected for integrity and function, lubricated, and reassembled.  The gun has great stock dimensions, superior engraving and wood, and handles superbly in hand.  A very unique Parker that would excel in the grouse woods or behind pointing dogs for pheasants.  Thanks for looking!
