This gun is circa 1864-65. The 22"" round 52 caliber barrel has an excellent bore with strong, bright rifling. The barrel retains approx. 90% of its blue with areas of thinning and spotting. The barrel and frame have vise marks that do not materially detract from the gun's appearance. The frame has visible case colors on both sides and a couple of dents on the right side. The top of the frame is marked with the standard SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO. marks. The removable magazine tube is present and functional. The sling bar and ring are present. The stocks are very good with no cracks or chips, a visible cartouche behind the sling bar attachment, and light issue wear. The action functions correctly. Civil War Spencers are rarely encountered in this condition. SOLD Antique: Yes |
