(YES IT IS LEGAL ANTIQUE PERCUSSION GUNS DO NOT HAVE A BARREL LENGTH RESTRICTION)It has an overall length of 31 inches. The ramrod is15 inches long. The wood has virtually all its original finish worn off, with a crack on the left side of the forearm, but it seams to be stable no other breaks and a few minor dings and abrasions. The back action locks both left and right, function crisply. The gun has an even, pleasant, brown patina, which is smooth and uncleaned. The locks, hammers, trigger guard, butt plate, tang, etc. are all plain. The gun dates from the late 1850's period. It is not marked in any way, other than 2 proof marks on the left side of the barrel near the breach. This was typical of trade shotguns of the era. It is of good sound solid quality with almost no pitting in the bores. If you ever wanted a sawed off percussion shotgun to compliment your display, this is it. I don't have a clue as to the history of the gun. Could it be Confederate? Sure, or maybe an express agents gun. The tacks on the stock make me think that it might be a Native American canoe gun, It sure is interesting. This is an ANTIQUE and can be shipped directly to you.
