Action design is Lefaucheux (underlever), which is the original breech loading shotgun design in 1835. This gun has 29 1/2" twist steel barrels that are in good condition. The internal bore has crazing in some spots and a few shallow pits - overall very bright. Both bores measure .676 with cylinder chokes. Externally the twist exhibits good pattern and original brown finish. Chambers are 2 1/2" as original. Ribs are tight and barrels ring nicely. Back action locks are in good condition and fully functional. Left hammer appears to have a repair to the ear and a course metal checkering job that does not match the right hammer. Hammers are non rebounding. Gun is very tight on face. The stock is well figured with a Bavarian Cheek Piece and has the original flat top checkering. A coat of varnish has been added as is typical with these old guns. Steel buttplate with "widows peak". No cracks to the stock. LOP is 13 1/2". Drop at comb - 1 3/8". Drop at Heel - 2 1/2". Weight of the gun is 6 LBS 8 3/4 OZ. I have some 2 1/2" 16 gauge low pressure cartridges for sale. Shipping is $50 and can sent directly, as local law allows.
