W&C Scott, rare 4-bore hammer gun. Ser. #2774.,Circ. 1870. 46" damascus bbl. w/ 4"x1.082" chamber. Full choke of 0.933".Beautifully paterened English walnut stock. LOP= 14",DH=2 1/4",DC=1 1/2". Overall weight =11.0 pounds. Watertable flats marked w/ Purdey Patent #1104 and Scott's patent #2752. Bbkl.flats marked w/ 0.933", 9 Drs. black powder, 3 1/2 oz. shot, not for nitro. Scott obtained reciprocal patent agreements with Purdey and became amajor supplier of "in-the-white" guns for Purdey. Scott made thousands of 12 ga. ,but only a very few 4-bores. Firm eventually became amalgomated with both Purdey and Holland& Holland. Collectors piece.
