Description:
Fresh to the market out of a Pennsylvania collection. Beautiful Marlin Model 39 Rifle made about 1927, having serial number 6567 with no prefix. The Model 39 was introduced in 1922 and ceased production in 1936 when it was replaced by the Model 39A. The standard features of this rifle include a 24" octagon barrel, full magazine with push-button tube release for loading, takedown frame, plain pistol grip butt stock with shotgun butt and hard rubber butt plate having the "Marlin" name in a lengthwise oval, plain walnut fore end, plain trigger, and case hardened receiver factory drilled and tapped for various receiver sights, weight just under 6 pounds. The rifle handles 25 short, 20 long or 18 long rifle cartridges but is not intended for use with High Speed ammunition, so if you intend to fire it, make sure you use standard velocity loads. This particular rifle is equipped with all Lyman sights - a gold bead front, #6 two-leaf folding rear (the rectangular one having the typical white triangle), and a #1A tang sight properly marked "H" on the underside, the correct code for the Models 92, 97, and 39.

CONDITION: The stocks are sound with no splits or cracks and no extra holes, just typical light usage marks. The famous Marlin Bullseye is still intact in the toe line of the butt stock, the upper inletting of the butt stock has the matching serial number 6567, and the butt plate has no chips or repairs. Also, the famous 6-pointed star appears on the INSIDE upper left tang - typically this was found on the upper tang just after the model marking. Barrel and mag tube retain 85% original bright blue starting to thin. The receiver retains 15% mottled original case colors with the balance turning the typical nickel-silver color. Takedown functions properly and is tight with no wobble or play. There are no extra holes in the upper tang after removing the tang sight for inspection. The half cock safety works as designed and the action is butter-smooth. Excellent bright bore, a 9 of 10. The tang and two-leaf sights operate perfectly. All markings are correct. Grades NRA Modern Fine and will make a great addition to your collection.
