Description:
***SOLD*** Winchester Model 1903 .22 Winchester Automatic semi automatic rifle, dated to 1903, the very first year of production for this rifle. This rifle features walnut furniture with a unique semi automatic action, with a tube magazine in the stock, and the charging handle on the front of the forend. The rifle is a takedown model, and easily breaks down into two pieces with a simple locking thumb screw on the back of the receiver. The early rifles were not fitted with a safety, however this rifle appears to have been retroactively fitted with a safety lever on the right side of the receiver, presumably by a gunsmith. The rifle is in great working order with a smooth action and very nice bore, and fully functional mechanism. The forend is slightly loose, likely from wood shrinkage over the years, and the stock appears to have been coated in a sort of clear laquer. Some finish speckling and patina is present, however this does not effect function whatsoever. This is a very nice, functional, rust-free example of a first year production Winchester 1903! Please refer to the photos to further assess the condition of the rifle. **Please note, this rifle will not accept .22LR ammunition, only .22 Winchester Automatic ammunition.**
