Description:
Colt Model 1861 Navy Pistol
Manufactured in 1864 at the height of the American Civil War. Production of the Model 1861 Navy Pistol ran from 1861-1873 with 38,864 produced.  Historian Philip Boulton of Southampton, England, has collated and recorded a survival rate of only 2.9% of the Model 1861 Colt Navy pistol.

7.5" round .36 caliber barrel marked with New York address, German silver front sight blade, 6-shot percussion cylinder with naval engagement scene, brass grip straps with round trigger guard, and 1-piece smooth walnut grips.
Condition:  Good.  Tight mechanics.  Blued and case hardened components exhibit an overall mellow gray patina with usage marks.  Cylinder scene visible is light, but visible.  Brass starting to mellow and patina in areas. Grips lightly sanded with finish added and a small repair to right toe.  Shootable bore with some light pitting.  Matching serial number (23656) on barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap.
Beautiful example of a Civil War Colt pistol.  If this gun could talk...
