So why it is not a Colt it is a 1944 GI pistol so it ended up here on GI. It has the original High Standard barrel, the original Scovill mag. The Colt collector I bought this from at the Mt Dora, FL military show, explained how he came to be the owner. He heard from a work buddy that he knows where there is a WW 2 pistol that now owned by the very old widow of a US Navy husband who brought it home. So this nice old lady wanted to give this buyer a receipt. She went to get her glasses and a piece of paper to write out the reciept. So she walks out with the pistol and she has already been rubbing the serial number with a scotch brite pad so she could see it. He said the serial number shined like a new dime. He did dab a little something probably some cold blue so it would not get any worse. So I have seen WW 2 pistols where someone took a grinder or tried to scrape off with a file or screw dirver.
