Description:
"An exceptionally nice US Cavalry Saber by Ames of the pattern of 1860, but dated 1859. The stamps on the ricasso are “Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee Mass." on one side, and US over JH over 1859 on the other. The hilt is very dark brass with the grip being black leather wrapped with twisted wire. The pommel is stamped “JH." The blade retains most of its original polish. The scabbard is stamped “JH" on the drag, and is free from dents. Dimensions: 43.5 inches long overall in the scabbard. The blade is 35 inches long.
