Description:
This is one of my favorite Colt 1849 Pocket I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned some great ones. This gun is inscribed on the backstrap “Presented by the Shields Artillery to Past Sergt. Dacy, as a token of respect. Boston, March 9, 1854. Off the top of my head I cannot recall seeing an earlier inscribed 1849 pocket. This gun is in the 42*** serial number range, manufactured in 1852. This Colt shows approximately 80% of the original blue on the barrel. The frame shows muted silver patterns of the color case hardened finish. The colors on these early pockets and navies were never vivid colors, they almost always came out muted like this. The grip is exceptional and near mint. All matching numbers. Nearly all the silver remains on the backstrap and trigger guard.  Mechanically excellent. This is an absolutely killer gun. This Colt has it all, from an extremely early manufacture, to condition, to historical significance! I absolutely love owning it, and whoever is the lucky buyer will get the same feelings I have about it when they handle it! Just stone cold cool!! Shipping will be through UPS and will be actual cost. Shipping method can be chosen by the buyer plus insurance amount. Thank you
