Description:
The Winchester Model 88 Lever action was a real departure from the classic Winchester lever action rifles. The new design featured a smooth hammerless frame with a detachable magazine and a rotary bolt. The new model 88 debuted in 1955 chambered in .308 Winchester. In 1964 Winchester switched to a lesser grade walnut stock that would accept the new pressed basketweave checkering pattern seen on this example. This rifle was manufactured in 1968. .308 Winchester
