Description:
Colt 1949 Pocket Model, Factory Engraved in Presentation Case; .31 caliber. Engraved by Gustav Young and company. Serial number is 85971. Gun, presentation case and accoutrements are original to this set. The silver-plated grip frame retains over 95% of its finish though it has faded. The cylinder, loading lever, and recoil shield show very minor crazing. The frame and barrel assembly retain 75-80% blue finish. The cylinder has turned a dark grey; the shade of grey blends well with the rest of the color of the gun. All engraving is crisp and sharp. The right grip panel has a small, tight crack (1/16-inch) at the top of the grip frame otherwise the original ivory grips are excellent. This gun had been fired at some time in the distant past but not by the current or most-previous owner. The presentation case had been forced open at some time and the upper hasp of the lock mechanism is missing. The flask, pill box, nipple wrench, case key and bullets shown in the picture are in very good original condition. This item has just come from a collection; previous owner has had this gun since 1954. It came to the current owner a couple of months ago. This item has been listed for a friend.
