Description:
On Hold Sale pending. French Musketoon flintlock converted to percussion most likely at St. Etienne arsenal in the 1850s.  The Lock is marked Mre Rle de Tulle indicating manufacture at the Royal French Arsenal in Tulle France.  The 30" barrel is marked 161B 343 which is most likely a regimental or unit number and has a grey brown patina, approximately 70 caliber smooth bore and has a bayonet lug. The 3 band dark walnut stock is in good condition  with numerous cartouches and stamping.  This Musketoon is in a short version of the infantry rifle used by the cavalry, artillery, sappers, etc.  The overal condition appears good, with all 3 bands sling swivels and original ramrod. The action is crisp and strong.  The rifle looks good with many military markings in a unmessed with condition.  Thousands of percussion French muskets were imported during the civil war by both the north and the south.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Shipping will be actual cost approximately $50.00.
