On Hold Sale Pending.?High Condition Antique US Springfield 50-70 Army rifle also known as the second Allen conversion named for the Springfield armory master armor Erskin S Allen who invented the trapdoor system. The second Allen was the first US army rifle designed for the 50-70 cartridge and first used by the army at the Wagon Box and Hayfield battles in Wyoming and Montana in 1867.  The lock is correctly marked US Springfield with the American Eagle and dated 1864 and still shows strong case hardening.  the breach block is dated 1866 with the eagles head and also shows strong case hardening.  The 3 band full length walnut stock has a strong inspectors cartouche and is in excellent condition.   The full length barrel has both correct front and rear sights.  All other metal parts are correctly marked and are still armory bright as manufactured.  The Bore is also very good to excellent as w outdoor be expected.  This rifle is in great condition and would. Be hard to improve on.  The rifle. Is complete and correct and comes with a bayonet.  Shipping will be actual cost approximately $50.00.
