Here is a nice Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle chambered in .45-70 govt. Manufactured on December 21, 1894, this Model 1886 features a 26" Octagonal barrel, 26" tubular magazine, walnut forend and straight grip walnut stock, and case colored receiver. This rifle is in all original condition with the exception of the addition of a modern rear tang sight. The barrel and tubular magazine have developed a nice patina and show various scattered handling marks. The receiver, lever, and hammer still retains much of their original case coloring but does show signs of browning and handling. The stock and forend are in great original condition. The forend shows no signs of cracking, just scattered handling marks and the occasional light ding/dent. The stock shows very few handling marks but does appear to have two hairline cracks along the left side of the grip. The cracks do not appear to alter the integrity of the stock in anyway. The bore on this particular rifle is exception with sharp rifling and no visible imperfections. This Model 1886 functions 100%. Included with this fine rifle is a letter from the Cody Firearms Museum. This letter includes the date of manufacturing, type of firearm, caliber, barrel type, trigger type, and when the firearm was received and shipped. This would make a fantastic addition to any Winchester collection.
