Description:
Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight bolt action rifle in the scarce 7x57 (7mm) Mauser caliber with the standard "ram's curl" featherweight stock typical of the 1980s and 1990s production Featherweights, 22" barrel, no provision for sights, top of receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounting, Weaver style bases present, 3 position safety, and red rubber butt pad. Butt pad has the earlier Winchester logo indicating 1981 production before the U.S. Repeating Arms takeover, making this a "1st year" rifle.
CONDITION: Stock shows a few light use marks and one area in the forearm section where the checkering has flattened either from storage or a carry wear. There are no splits, cracks or extra holes. The factory sling swivel studs are present. The butt pad has light wear at the toe from gun safe storage. The bluing is 95% original and bright factory finish, with 3 very small spots of surface oxidation on the floor plate from being stored a long time with drops of water (does not look like blood pitting). The action is smooth and the safety functions in all 3 positions (safe, action locked; safe, action can be opened; fire). Excellent bright shiny bore. Bolt is serially matched to the rifle. Nice rifle in a great shooting and scarce caliber to add to your collection and/or take on your next deer hunt.
