Description:
This is a magnificent bird gun designed by Mr Victor Sarasqeta for the venerable Stoeger Co, and was imported in the 1960's. It is called the Zephyr Sterlingworth model. We can provide the actual advt from the 1961 Shooters Bible to the buyer if desired. A true side lock with Greener type cross bolt for strength, nicely engraved with stunning rich deep case colors. Classic Euro 27 3/4" barrels choked aprox mod and full. LOP is 14 7/8" to end of pad and about 14 to end of wood w/o butt plate. it weighs approx 6 7/8lbs
It has a raised matted solid rib with perfect bores and semi beavertail forend
This is a double trigger gun with extractors. It is delicate (feels like a nice 28), thin in the wrist; swings and points beautifully.
With the full engraving, aligned screws and cocking indicators it has the quality and features of guns costing many thousands more.
This gun sold for about $ 140.00 in 1961 When a new Chevy cost less than 2000.00 to get an idea of its value/price in todays dollars
The Stoeger company was at one time sold to Beretta and in turn sold to Benelli however this fine gun pre dated this by several decades.
