Description:
Belgium Browning Diana Grade 20 gauge O/U shotgun.  This gun was made in 1967 which was typically a bad year for high grade Browning guns, as many of them were “salty” and required complete warranty refinishing (by Browning) to replace the “salty” wood and to re-grey the receivers and to re-blue the barrels.  This gun is a Unicorn as it is totally salt free and original.

Please closely examine the photographs.  This is a round knob, short tang gun which was correct for 1967 and this is the original wood as you can see from the serial number stamped on the butt.

When a “salt” gun was refinished there was always evidence inside the receiver of pitting…none here and never was any.

Configuration wise this is, as I mentioned above, a round knob, short tang stock.  It has a 28” vent rib barrel choked SK/SK (measuring .006”/.006” constriction) with a field style forearm and field stock dimensions.  14 ¼” LOP, 1 ½” DAC & 2 3/8” DAH with neutral cast.  Weighs 6 lbs. 10 oz.

The beautiful Diana grade engraving was masterfully done by Rene Coenen who engraved at Browning from 1948 – 1980.

The stock and forearm were crafted from fine, select Walnut and checkered in the ultra-fine Diana pattern.

All finishes are original and 99%+.  A few of tell-tale wear areas on a Superposed are the gold on the trigger, the top lever, the area under the barrel just ahead of the forearm.  This gun almost appears to be unfired!  In fact, it has not even been assembled much.

This is, from end to end, from top to bottom a really beautiful example of a Browning Diana.
