Description:
1894 OCTAGON SPORTING RIFLE IN SCARCE .25-35 CALIBER, #485XXX, MADE 1911. This is a really nice condition example that shows fine original barrel and mag blue with only some age and high edge wear to the barrel, exc. markings and fitted with a three leaf express rear sight (all leaves intact) and a Lyman "Jack" front sight (half moon with ivory bead). The receiver sides and loading gate also show most of the original blue with only some very light thinning/age and gray on top and bottom sections. It is also fitted with a Marbles tang sight. Wood to metal fit is fine and the stock and forend shows only normal handling/hunting marks with no cracks or chips. The bore is a bit dark, but has strong rifling throughout and is not pitted. The .25-35 is difficult to find in a full octagon rifle. Very attractive 110 year old Winchester.
