Description:
For your consideration, a Colt Detective Special in .38 Special. This piece has been heavily modified in the style of John Henry "Fitz" Fitzgerald. As such, the hammer and trigger guard have been bobbed. The piece has been dressed in a pair of faux mother-of-pearl grips by Eagle. The metalwork is extensively engraved, with acanthus scroll work adorning the backstrap and butt of the handle, top strap, left and right sides, and underside of the frame, and is bounded by single line borders. The engraving was performed by Augustino Loprinzini, who sold his services to the Colt Custom Shop. His signature is marked beneath the left grip panel. Additionally, the front sight blade has been serrated to reduce glare. While this piece was not made as such by Fitz himself, it is a stunning tribute to his namesake style of revolver, the Fitz Special. Additionally, included is a dossier on the engraver. .38 Special
