Description:
Offered from the Jeff Harris collection is this left hand cap lock conversion long rifle by noted builder John F. Bergmann  CA mid 1980s.
It is set up with a straight octagon barrel by Hoyt that is 46" long, 15/16" across the flats and in .54 caliber.  The barrel has been browned.
The rifle is 62" in overall length.
Length of pull is 13 7/8".  Drop at the heel is 3 5/8".  The stock has 3/8" of LH cast off built into it.  The rifle weighs 9.4 lbs.
The Siler conversion lock has had an after market hammer added to it and, like the barrel, it has been browned.  Ignition is by drum and nipple.  This rifle could easily be converted to flintlock if desired.
Double set, double lever Allen set triggers.  All furniture is brass.  The nicely figured stock is a light, warm, chestnut color.  It also features some modest carving.
The barrel did have rust in it when inspected though the gun does not show much use.  I ran some patches with solvent and then oil through it but I recommend a thorough cleaning with a rust remover and some steel wool.
This is a simple and modest rifle from the early years of this contemporary builder.
Shipping charges will be based on your local zip code.  I ship USPS priority insured ONLY.
Due to the rising cost of lumber, if you want a wooden crate instead of a cardboard box, I will have to see the local prices first to quote.
No money is made in shipping.  I only charge the cost of the materials and what the post office is asking.  The rifle will be insured for the selling price.
