CLASSIC POLICE POSITIVE SPECIAL REVOLVER IN STANDARD .38 SPECIAL CALIBER WITH 4" BARREL, #255XXX, MADE 1922. This is a nice 99 year old Colt with simply atrocious after-market white plastic grips with grip adapter! Fortunately, replacement grips are easy and inexpensive to find...unless, of course, you like the way it looks now... Fine deep blue overall with light edge wear only and back strap blue thinning to gray. Still some good fire blue on the hammer back and trigger sides. Excellent markings including the rampant colt on the left side of the frame and the correct barrel address with last patent date of 1905, grip adapter marked Mershon Co. Inc., Glendale, Calif., USA, "Sure Grip" Adapter, white grips marked "Franzite" in medalions. Very tight action and lockup, bright excellent sharp bore and unaltered front sight. A Fine Roaring Twenties Colt in need only of some better grips! Amazing pre-war hand fitted quality.
