Description:
SOLD A clean Thompson Center percussion rifle with a serial #217961, .50 cal., 28” octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing a small area of light oxidation in the rifling at the muzzle. The barrel retains about 99% original blue with a few fine handling marks around the front sight and a couple tiny spots of light oxidation staining on the muzzle. The lock retains all its original case-hardened colors and the brass mountings have aged to a lightly-tarnished warm mustard patina. The American walnut halfstock with left side cheekpiece rates about fine with a handful of scattered light handling marks from honest use. The rear sight has been removed leaving two vacant holes, the front sight is an added globe with amber-colored insert and mounted to the barrel tang is a Lyman 57SML sight with aperture. A hardwood ramrod with tarnished brass tip is included, the double set triggers function well mechanically and the action remains crisp When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
