Description:
The Marlin Model 1881 was made from 1881 to 1892, with approximately 20,000 manufactured.  The standard rifles were fitted with a 28 inch octagon barrel, blue finished with color case-hardened hammer, lever, and butt-plate, and were chambered in .32-40 WCF, .38-55 WCF, .40-60 Marlin, .45-70 Govt., or .45-85 Marlin.  This special order Model 1881 is fitted with a 24 inch octagon barrel, 1/2 tube magazine, nicely figured checkered forearm and pistol grip stock, color case-hardened frame, is factory engraved, and chambered in 40-60 Marlin.  It is in very fine orignal condition, with the barrel retaining about 70% of its blue finish and the frame retaining 10-20% of its original color case-hardened finish.  The hammer and lever have lost most all of their original finishes, with traces in their hidden areas.  The steel butt-plate and forend cap have has lost most all of their original finshes and the loading gate still retains about 30% of its original fire blue finish..  The bore is perfectly shootable, with sharp rifling, though there is some minor corrosion, and the action functions perfectly.  The stock and forearm retain most of their finishes, with no chips or cracks in the stock and one crack on the right side of the forearm.  A very handsome Marlin lever gun, would look great on the wall of a man cave.                            REDUCED!!!!                PRICE:  SOLD          We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.                    PH. 859-276-1419         We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives.    Have a Individual FirearmFirearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.                      NOTE:  No additional Fee for Credit Card Purchases.
