Description: This is a good solid Harpers Ferry rifle dated 1860 on lockplate and still has the V P and eaglehead lightly visible on barrel. It has a letter of authencity from the Picket Post in Fredericksburg, Va. and they are still in business today. Letter will be photographed and posted later. It works at full cock only. Missing are the primer parts, leafs on rear sight, sling swivel and mount on front band and sling swivel missing in front of triggerguard. The bayonet lug was removed many years ago and only a slight trace of where it was remains. Many lugs got busted up as they stuck out and then removed. The .58 caliber shows only a trace of rifling. Ramrod replaced and also the nipple. Stock was never sanded with cracks under lockplate and on back side but does not appear to have been broken through. The primer door hinge at top is broken but still there as primer door doesn't stay shut. Still a solid rifle which doesn't cost an arm and a leg to own. Free UPS shipping. Keep in mind that the rifle bands are oval and musket bands inlet where the wood meets the barrel. That will keep you from buying a cut down musket. I guarantee everything I sell. SOLD Antique: Yes |
