Description:
For your consideration, a Colt 1878 in .44-40 Winchester Centerfire. Per the included Colt letter, this piece is in as-shipped configuration circa 1887. The acid-etched "Frontier Six Shooter" moniker on the left barrel remains legible. While the finish is uniformly blemished, oases of the original, deep bluing remain in out-of-the-way areas. The same can be said of the iridescent nitre bluing of certain small parts. Despite its age and evident use, the action cycles smoothly and locks up tightly. .44-40 Winchester
