Description: SOLD.... Decent Smith & Wesson 1st model “Baby Russian”.. Here is a decent condition Smith & Wesson Baby Russian I have for sale. S/N 1054 and all matching of course.. This model only made 1876 to 1877 with about 25548 made. Has the standard 3 1/4” barrel and is in the .38 S&W caliber. As you can see, this ole Smith is kinda scabby looking and shows some light pitting and some areas that show some cleaning. The barrel has about 40% thinning original nickel finish..It shows a little light pitting at the muzzle and a spot on the under barrel ejector housing. The cylinder has about 20% finish with some light pitting also and some surface crud.. The frame has about 65% finish including the front and rear grips straps with an area of light pitting that shows some cleaning on the right side below the hammer..The barrel latch shows 50% blue.. No case colors remain on the hammer and has faded out. The mechanics are excellent.. Crisp and tight as a new gun.. No cylinder front to rear movement and no side to side wobble. Lock up is tight as new. The grips are excellent with no cracks or chips and a perfect snap on factory fit..Still shows very fine checkering with little wear.. The bore is excellent. Near mint bright and shiny with a few minor specks. The cylinder chambers are mint bright and shiny with no roughness at all.. The barrel latch screw shows some turning but still very serviceable.. The take down cylinder plate retaining screw on the top of the barrel is burred up pretty bad and there is a scratch beside it also as you can see.. The other screws are very good and not all burred up from tinkering.. The take down pins show no pecking and all are OK.. This one would make a fantastic shooter with proper black powder loads of course or an entry grade collector.. Not a bad gun at all but does show actual use and was not a gun that sat around in a drawer it's whole life. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.. $15 insured shipping.
