REMINGTON MODEL 12-D FACTORY SPECIAL ORDER. NON-TYPICAL ENGRAVING PATTERN. 22 SHORT, LONG OR LONG RIFLE, 24" OCTAGON BARREL, MIRROR PERFECT BORE, STANDARD FRONT AND REAR BARREL SIGHTS.
FULLY ENGRAVED FRAME AND TRIGGERGUARD. THE RIGHT SIDE HAS A RUNNING RABBIT, THE LEFT SIDE NORMALLY HAS A SQUIRREL ON A TREE BRANCH BUT THIS GUN HAS A HUNTING DOG RUNNING THROUGH GRASS AND BUSHES. BOTH SIDES, TOP AND BOTTOM ALSO HAVE DEEP CUT ACANTHUS SCROLLWORK. THE GAME SCENES ARE IN OVALS WITH A STIPPLED BACKGROUND.
PISTOL GRIP STOCK, RIBBED FOREARM, FINE CHECKERED GRIP, HIGHLY FIGURED WALNUT. FACTORY MARKED GRIP CAP AND CRESCENT STEEL BUTTPLATE. I SUSPECT THE GUN WAS TOTALLY RESTORED, POSSIBLY AT THE FACTORY. IT LOOKS BRAND NEW WITH NO DEFECTS. A GORGEOUS, VERY RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED REMINGTON MADE IN 1913.
