Listing a older Winchester model 12 Standard grade shotgun, in the family for a while, has a 30" full choke barrel, this particular shotgun belonged to my father in law and he had it drilled and tapped for a Lyman off set peep sight. Metal appears to have original worn in places bluing, the pistol grip walnut stock is really nice , nice grain to it. All model 12's were takedown and the Standard had the hard black butt plate with grooved forearm. Not to long ago Wisconsin was slug guns only south of a particular hi-way and this bugger lobbed slugs out to 90 yards extremely well.s.n. 1,280,518 puts this gals age at 71 years , 1950 Mfg. all parts were machined and hand fitted in these old Winchesters , which is why they held up and were reliable. After 1964 that ended as did a lot of other things with Winchester. Including I've read their govt contract. These like the 1897 could be slam-fired which they were designed to do.
