The overall length is 37"". The approx. 18.75"" round 577 centerfire caliber barrel has a good bore with visible rifling. It is marked at the left breech reading from the muzzle STEEL over a crown over VR over IR over a crown over E over 10 over a crown over VR over crossed swords over 2P over a crown over E over 10 over a broad arrow over WD (War Department). All the metal has a light brown patina. The left side of the chamber ring has two additional proof marks and the top has III. The breech block has the broad arrow over WD and a crown over E over 12. The lock plate has an I over broad arrow and crown over broad arrow over 1869 over ENFIELD in the center and a crown over VR at the tail. The brass trigger guard and butt plate are good with an aged patina. The unused swivel hole on the trigger guard is broken out. The stock is good with areas of finish crackle, a filled ramro channel, and two decorative Middle Eastern rings around the wrist. The evenly worn rings have a few embedded blue stones remaining. There are two sling swivels with a period leather sling. The action is stiff but functions correctly. If you like Middle Eastern guns, this one is for you. SOLD Antique: Yes |
