Description:
"Ten shots quick!" and "Aims as easy as pointing your finger!" were two of the early advertising slogans for the Savage Model 1907 when it was introduced. The Model 1907 was very popular because, despite its small size, it had a 10-round double-stack magazine and fired the .380 ACP and is still highly desired by collectors. In 1920, Savage introduced some upgrades to the Model 1907, calling the Model 1917, which was made from 1920 until 1926 in .32 Auto. The Model 1917 is mechanically the same as and shares almost all of its parts with the final version of the Model 1907 (including a smaller, thinner cocking lever "hammer"), but with a significantly larger handle. Because this required larger grips, the Model 1917 uses one screw through each grip to hold them to the pistol frame. This Savage Model 1917 has been reblued. It is marked "SAVAGE ARMS CORP. UTICA N.Y. U.S.A. CAL. 32 PATENTED NOV. 21, 1905--7.65 M-M" on the top of slide. The grip panels are a checkered, hard black rubber with "Savage Quality" circling the Savage Chief logo. "SAFE" and "FIRE" are stamped on left rear of pistol. The pistol can be cocked with the exposed hammer in back of slide. The Serial Number is stamped on face of pistol just under the barrel. .32 Auto
