Description:
This is a superb example of an original late production Springfield Armory M1 Garand chambered in 30-06 Springfield. This Post Korean War era M1 Garand was manufactured in 1955/1956 by Springfield Armory and is in beautiful condition. This rifle features all original Springfield manufactured components. All the parts on this rifle are period correct and original to the gun. The original parkerized finish is in excellent condition across the entirety of the rifle with minuscule amounts of handling/wear marks on the sharp edges of the rifle. The Springfield stock is in equally as excellent condition and shows no signs of cracks, just various light handling marks. The stock has the correct DOD acceptance stamp and "P" firing proof mark. The stock has had a fresh coat of finish applied to it. The Springfield manufactured barrel on this particular rifle was manufactured in September of 1955 (SA 9-55) and the bore is excellent, with sharp rifling. The breech of the barrel is "in the white" which indicates that it is the original barrel to the receiver. The throat of the barrel gauges at a "0+" and the muzzle gauges at a "1+", indicating that the barrel is in "like new"/excellent condition. The action is tight and the rifle is in 100% working order. This rifle would make an outstanding addition to a collection or a beautiful shooter. NOT PICTURED: This Garand comes with an original U.S.G.I. greensling dated June of 1955 (6 55), the same year as the barrel which is dated September 1955 (9 55).
